Silver Belle and Glory family... |
Belle gave us 3 babies on 7/26. They are 1 color point boy, 1 CP girl, and 1 black & white boy.

Katrina and Shane have finally made it to their new home in the Czech Republic!
We are soo thrilled to have 2 Curl Essence kittens in a new country, and the FIRST American Curls there. This was THE MOST intense delivery we've done in our 20+ years of breeding Curls. We can't wait to hear how they are received in the shows over there. Katrina took a little longer to settle into her new home than Shane which is really interesting because she ran the roost in our house. She probably missed Mike. She was Mike's girl all the way. He thought she was just the prettiest girl ever, and he told her so all the time.
We were really anxious to see what this breeding would produce. Belle is fantastic example of what we are looking for in an American Curl female... she's got the size, ears, eyes, profile... you name it. We haven't let her have babies for awhile because she's getting older. But she is in heaven having new babies to love on again.
Katrina... |
Katrina is a seal and white bicolor, but much lighter than her brother. I've been very taken by Katrina from the time she was first born, but I love her looks more and more as she matures. She's got that "princess" sweet look that just grows on me every day. It's not just her color, but it's the face... those beautiful eyes that just grab you and draw you in.

11/18 short video... |
I took this short impromptu video this morning just so you could see your new baby. Mike spoils her rotten. She's such the princess. Everything about her is "all girl", and she ADORES Mike.

Mike is going to be lost when she leaves... but not for long. He's got 4 replacements in the other room. They really should be in here in the master bedroom, but we've decided to hold off moving them until Katrina and Shane are gone... we're not taking any chances of last minute "kitten kudies" getting on either Shane or Katrina this close to their big moving day.

10/31. I took a couple of new pics of Katrina today but when I transferred them to the computer, the light didn't show her pretty face. I'll retake them tomorrow morning.

10/10 ... new photos... |
I took lots of new photos of Katrina this morning for evaluation as a breed/show cat. As a breeder, when I'm looking at a cat as a possible show and breed cat, I want lots of photos from different angles. 60% of the points for an American Curl at a show is from the neck up. That puts a whole lot of importance on the head. I'm adding this as a slideshow because there are so many photos to look at.

When a judge is approaching a cat in the ring before he/she even pulls the cat out of the cage, the judge is looking for that "first impression", particularly, that first look at the face. On a Curl, you want those eyes to sort of "pop out at you". The AC standard says "moderately large". They don't take up the whole face, but the judge is looking for "balance"... everything in our standard really points to "balance"... In other words, does it all fit together to make a nice package. (and I have to add that this bedspread and lighting in our bedroom doesn't really do justice for the color of the cats. The best pictures to look at to see Katrina's true color are the ones where Mike is holding her to show the ears at different angles. I took the last couple of close ups of the ears from the bathroom. I caught her hanging out on the tile behind the tub so I grabbed her to take these last close ups to show the curl in both ears.)

You just HAVE to love these pictures. We love all our babies, but every now and then, there's that 'one' that just seems to take your breath away. For me, that's Katrina. (Click on each photo to enlarge it.)

and short video. I took this video when Mike was downstairs. I apologize for not getting a better angle or closer view. I'll have Mike help me tomorrow and replace it. But these 2 still photos show exactly how beautiful she is.

Belle's babies are loose in the bedroom/bathroom all day now but we still haven't separated mom from her babies... we just haven't had the heart. Belle is sooo happy being a mom again, it's hard to separate her... we will have to really soon. When the babies are eating solid food most of the time, mom's milk can get sour giving the babies a tummy ache. Also, it triggers a new heat cycle. At that point, we don't have a choice anymore. The added benefit is that when we're not competing with mom for the babies' attention, they bond to us more... like Parker and Winston.
09/02 pics and videos...
Katrina was really quick to chase the bug toy, while both the boys were more interested in the little stuffed animals and flowers. I have more photos and a couple short videos of these babies that I'll be adding once I get all the new pages done for each of the kittens. Please come back in the next couple of days for the other pics.
Pics taken 8/15...
This is all 3 babies. The Katrina is in middle in the back. Mike brought her in first by herself. While I was waiting for him to get the 2 boys, I was petting her and rubbing her all over. She just melted into my hands.
