The American Curl cat has become quite popular over the past 10 years as more people are learning about this unique and special breed of cats. Curl Essence has been an American Curl breeder since 2004. We began with 3 Champion American Curl kittens from Caroline Scott the original owner of Procurlharem cattery in NY. We sought out Grace and Joe Ruga, the founders of the breed for their expertise and training on this rare breed. (Which BTW was not as easy task, but well worth the effort and persistence,) As it turned out, Joe and Grace only lived 20 miles from us here in Murrieta, CA. From that first meeting, both Grace and Joe have become not only our mentors but some of our best friends.

Curl Essence Tiana in Thailand

Congratulations to Curl Essence Tiana of Kuro-Kai, DM

A Distinguished Merit award is a REALLY BIG DEAL!. Tiana was sent to Thailand last year where she was awarded this Distinguished Merit Award.

A Distinguished Merit Award is a title awarded to a female cat who has produced five CFA Grand Champions or Grand Premiers, and to a male who has produced 15 Grand Champions or Grand Premiers.

We were incredibly proud of Tiana when in her first show as a kitten showing in Thailand, she got 8th Best and 9th Best Kitten with a class of 57 kittens.

Congrats to Kathleen in Canada

Big CONGRATULATIONS!!! to Kathleen in Canada. She is showing Curl Essence Lexie of Curlfolie. Lexie is a Champion in CCC (Canadian registry). Lexie was given Best Cat in Show at a 2 day show in Quebec. Kathleen is also showing a Grand Champion named Curl Essence Sunny of Curlfolie. After Kathleen had granded Sunny, she asked us for another show/breed. Kathleen was willing to wait for us to find just the right cat for her. We decided Lexie would be that girl. I'm so glad she waited. Kathleen has done a great job of grooming and showing these cats.
