American Curl Kittens For Sale

All the kittens on this page are available.
Click on a kitten photo to see more pictures of each kitten.
(I kind of go overboard with photos... but we think they are so cute. we just want to share a lot of our cute kitten pictures with visitors to our website.)
If you are interested in any of these kittens, please email me at psalm0512@yahoo.com.  I would love to hear from you.
We don't have any kittens for sale right now.  This is a first for us.  Typically, at least ONE of our girls will go into season late summer/fall for winter babies, but no cigar this year.  (Maybe they knew how hard it would be for us to deliver their kittens with the virus limiting all the live cargo shipments). We are, however, expecting babies from Sabrina before the end of December.  We have always had Valentine's kittens which means breeding in December.  If you've visited this page recently, I said Colette was just going into season but we were going to hold off breeding her until the middle of next year, but then we looked back at the kittens she gave us in Feb2019.  They were so cute, we changed our minds.  We put Colette with Opie last week which will give us our Valentine's babies.

Charlotte started crying for a boy this morning so we let Colette out to run the house and put Charlotte with Opie this morning which will also give us February kittens.  I created a new page for you to see the kittens from Colette & Opie's 2019 litter.  You'll understand why we decided not to wait when you see the pictures of Colette's babies.  With Sabrina, Colette and Charlotte litters, we may wait to breed Bellabee... we're still undecided.  It may depend on the size of Sabrina;s litter.    I love, love, loved! the babies we got from both Bellabee and Charlotte.  We sold all the babies because we knew we wouldn't be able to get them into a show hall while they were still young.  It broke my heart because they  were some phenomenal kitties, but they have absolutely wonderful homes.  We try not to have more than 2-3 litters at a time. Hope rarely gives us more than 2 kittens at a time, so I guess you could consider a litter her,  a "half litter".   We still haven't confirmed that Hope is pregnant.  It's still to soon to tell.  If she is, we'll just have to wait longer for Bellabee babies. I'll post a litter announcement when we have a confirmation.

New Litters expected in 2021...

Due end of January...  Brittany and Opie

Brittany should have her babies the every end of January 2021.
Picture
Brittany is a calico (technically, "silver patched and white").  We had planned to show Brittany.  She's got the flash and personality but since there weren't any shows scheduled, we decided to breed her once before the 2021 shows to see what she will   give us.  She in out of one of our new bloodlines and this will be her first litter so we're really anxious to see what her babies will look like.
Brittany and Opie

Due in February...  Colette and Opie

Colette's full name is Curl Essence Colette de la Curl.  She is a red silver.  Opie is our chocolate smoke boy..  His full name is Curl Essence Obsessed with Chocolate.
Colette is a beautiful red silver with perfect ears, eyes, and body structure.  She was the American Curl Reginal Winner for 2017.  She was awarded  2017 Best American Curl Longhair Kitten of the Year  and 2017 20th Best Kitten of the Year in 2017. Probably the best word to describe Colette is simply "elegant".

Next, Charlotte and Opie.

Charlotte and Bellabee are sisters.  Last year, Bellabee went into season just before Charlotte, but Charlotte beat her to the punch this year so we decided to wait and breed Bellabee next Spring for summer kittens.
Charlotte is a silver patched girl .  Charlotte and Bellabee couldn't be more different but both have given Charlotte had one litter in  the fall of 2019 with Lovebug, a red and white boy.
Charotte and Opie

Due also in February is Charlotte and Opie

I have to take some pictures of Charlotte for a separate page for Charlotte and Opie.  I'll get that page added in the next couple of pages.  Charlotte is a silver patched girl with the absolutely softest and silkiest coat of all of our cats.  I know I spoil her by petting her but when she comes over to be, I just can't keep my hands off her coat.  Charlotte is out of out UK bloodlines.  She is Bellabee's sister, but she was never showable.  Some breeders might have taken her into the show halls, but we hold ourselves to a pretty high standard for our show cats and her ears just don't have the curl we want to show.  However, she has the ears and other features in her bloodlines and from tracking show characteristics from generation to generation, her genetics  are all there.  Opie is our smallest boy.  He's has great ears and puts those nicely curled ears on his babies.  This combination is going to be really exciting.  I'll get some nice photos of Charlotte on a separate page soon so you can see for yourselves why I adore this little girl

And/or Daphney .

We're also watching Daphney, a really pretty seal lynx point girl to put with Handy.  It seems like when we are looking for a boy for Daphney, we always settle on Handy,  I guess because they are both so pretty.  Daphney typically gives us 3-4 kittens, several of which are carbon copies of dad and at least 1 that will look like mom.  We are talking about retiring Daphney soon but we want a carbon copy of her first.  She's done that in the past so we keep our fingers crossed with every litter.  The last time Daphney had babies was in the summer of 2019 so she should completely healed and ready for 2021 kittens.  I have a separate page for what we expect from her.  Click the button below or go to that page from the navigational bar.

Socializing our kittens.

Over the past 18 years, we've identified what we can do for our new kittens to develop those great personalities you read about on our testimonial page.  Part is the breed, but it goes farther than that.  It's the special handling and care they get from use from birth to when they go to their new homes.
Our new babies are kept in the nursery with mom until they are about 6 weeks old.  They will start eating solid food at 4-5 weeks old   By the time they are about 8 weeks old, they are still nursing, but they are also  eating solid food and using the litter box.  Around this time, we bring them and the moms into the master bedroom  to socialize them to humans.  We close them in with us so not only does their world get bigger, but they get used to living with the humans.  We have a couple large cages in the bedroom so we usually put them up at nights with mom at first so we can sleep without worrying about the babies getting hurt while we're sleeping. This is when we start really getting a good picture of their personalities, i.e., who's dominate, who needs more reinforcement and encouragement.... which kittens are the play-mysters, and which are the snugglers.  This is a very important time in their growth.  We don't want to push them into a scary world before they are ready for it.    Plus, we need to be sure they won't be afraid of the other adult cats.  Remember, until then, they've been in a very protected room in a cage (actually 2-48" cages connected to make a long run) with their mom.  They see us and the adult cats all the time, and we're handling them all the time, but they have been completely protected.  Once we let them into the bedroom, we only allow certain cats into the room with them... only the quieter, more gentle cats that mom won't object to being around her babies.  The moms are still VERY PROTECTIVE of their family.  If we have more than one litter loose in the room, we may have to alternate moms.  Some of the moms will share parenting responsibilities.  Some won't. This is where we "socialize" them to humans,  Eventually, we kick mom out of the room so the babies identify us with their source of attention, play, food, etc.  We're creating that special bond to humans that our new Curl owners expect from our kittens..  Some will do this to some extent  anyway, but not all.   Without this special time with us, and only us, you'll still end up with those few kittens that are more independent and not that social Curl personality.  This is not a casual thing for us.  We are very focused on which cats need to drawn out of their shells and the attention they need from us to create those special personalities.  .  This last month with us is SOO SOO critical to being able to be sure that every kitten we place in a new home becomes that "special loving pet" people are looking or in our Curls.  (BTW, I don't know of any other breeders that do this to the extent that we do.... and it shows.)

I usually create a separate a page for each litter where I can include short descriptions of their personalities and include some videos.  You can go directly to the individual  pages from the navigational bar at the top of the page or from the links on this page to see more photos of the kittens.  If you are interested in specific kittens and need more information to decide which would be the best fit for your home, please email me at Psalm0512@yahoo.com or call on one of the phone numbers shown below.  We can talk and I can take more pictures and/or videos to help you with your decision.

We require a 50% deposit (paid through Paypal) to hold a kitten.  Once the kitten is contracted, we will move all information on your kitten to a "kittens sold" page so the you can watch his/her development photos and videos.  This avoids the confusion as to which kittens are available.
Considering adding an American Curl to your family?  I found this website about American Curls.  You might find it interesting.  I thought it was as accurate as any of the websites about our breed.   http://www.metaphoricalplatypus.com/articles/animals/cats/cat-breeds/american-curl-cat-breed-profile.    (This is not a link to the page.  You will have to copy/paste the URL into your web browser.)

Costs for purchasing a kitten from us
"We are asked all the time for the price of our kittens.  I don't publish that on this website because we don't feel it's right to encourage people to "price shop" for their next family member... and that's what our babies are.  We state that our kittens become "part of our family before they become part of yours" because that's the absolute truth.  We treat them like part of the family and we expect their new owners to do the same.  In all our years of breeding this unique breed, we've found that to be absolutely true.  You've probably already done some research on the breed. One of the better sites to research that talks about the breed accurately and will give you an expectation of what you can expect to pay for a purebred American Curl is: http://www.metaphoricalplatypus.com/articles/animals/cats/cat-breeds/american-curl-cat-breed-profile/   This is what this site has to say about expected cost of an American Curl.  We recommend you read the entire article on the American Curl.

Adopting an American Curl Kitten or Cat
Prices for American Curl kittens are quite variable. Purebred American Curls cost approximately $1,000-$2,000 or more when obtained from legitimate breeders, with pet quality kittens at the lower end of the price spectrum and show quality at the upper end. Some pet quality American Curls actually have completely straight ears, but still have the appealing Curl personality, body style, and coat type.

Basic Kitten Care...

I spend a lot of time telling my new kitten owners what food, litter, etc they should plan on when they have one of our babies.  I thought it might just be easier to create a whole page with products and care information.  Even if you don't have one of our babies, you might find this information helpful.  Click the link below to go to the Basic Kitten Care page.

We believe we provide the best American Curl pets available
based on the compliments we receive from our new Curl owners
.

We had one new owner call us on her cell phone on her way home from the airport to tell us she couldn't believe that her new American Curl kitten was kissing her daughter's nose and laying on a small towel on her daughter's lap in the car on the way home after a coast to coast flight.  Other comments from new owners tell us our babies are sleeping on their pillow next to them.... their first night in their new homes.  For personal testimonials from owners of our babies, please enjoy some of the humorous comments and cute photos from the new owners of our kitties on our Testimonial Page.

We believe this is a result of the love and attention they get from us before they find their new homes...

Our kitties love, love, love us... they love their new owners too.

Below is a little slide show of one of the kitties that went to Hong Kong.  She's snuggling in with Mike.  Who gets to snuggle with the people at night is like taking a number at the DMV.  This so perfectly depicts our relationship with our kitties, we decided to leave it up.  You HAVE to smile at the last picture.
