Please email me first and tell me a little about your home... i.e., kids, other pets, etc. Please include a phone #. so we can chat too.
Charlotte & Handy babies... |
Charlotte had 4 babies on 5/11. They are 1 silver girl, 1 silver boy, 1 red silver boy, & 1 CP boy.
|
I know that most of our visitors expect new photos of our kittens more often than I've been able to do for several weeks. Our house had some extensive repairs which made it hard to find a time and place to take new pics of Charlotte's kittens. We felt the noise, smells and workers would only serve to frighten them if we brought them out of the nursery until the work was complete. I've finally been able to bring them out for decent photos. I'm creating a separate page for each one. Click one of the photos or buttone below to go to that kitten's separate page for more photos.
We allow our kittens to go to their new homes as soon as they are spayed or neutered. We use a clinic that will do the surgeries when the babies are a minimum of 9 wks. or 2lb. (And I do mean MINIMUM... so much a 1 oz. under and they send the kitten home.) That's typically around 11 wks. for our kittens. This clinic works with all the local rescues which is why they will accept the kittens this small. And the vets are VERY, VERY GOOD!
We pay for the spay or neuter costs, 1st FVRCP and 2nd FVRCP booster vaccinations for our kittens. When you get your kitten, you will have the spay/neuter certificate from the vet and vaccinations and dates administered for your vet. Your new baby can be registered in CFA registration in your name at your request. Microchip is available for an extra $25 (at the buyer's expense) as long as it can be done at the clinic. (Our vet will charge much more.)

Watch for regular updates on individual pages.
I know that people interested in our kittens enjoy watching the babies as they are developing. I try to post new photos and/or videos every couple of weeks so you can see how they are growing. When I add new photos and/or videos, I don't purge the older ones for new visitors. When a kitten is sold, I will remove that kitten's picture from this page and move his/her individual page to my SOLD dropdown menu. If a kitten is being reserved for a breeder, I will say that on the individual page.
Reserving a kitten from a future litter...
We are taking reservations for future kittens now. We reserve the right for first pick of any of our litters for ourselves to show, however, if you reserve a kitten from a future litter, you will have first pick (after us of course). Anyone with a Reserve Agreement can wait for future litter if they want to wait for a kitten from another litter .
If you are interested in reserving a kitten from a future litter, please email me for a "Reserve Kitten Sales Agreement"....

Socializing our kittens. |
Over the past 20+ years, we've identified what we can do for our new kittens to develop those great personalities you read about on our testimonial page. Part is the breed, but it goes farther than that. It's the special handling and care they get from use from birth to when they go to their new homes.
|
Our new babies are kept in the room we call "the nursery" with mom until they are about 6 weeks old. They will start eating solid food at 4-5 weeks old By the time they are about 8 weeks old, they are eating solid food and using the litter box. We bring the babies and their mom into the master bedroom between 6-7 weeks of age to socialize them to humans. We close them in with us so not only does their world get bigger, but they get used to living with the humans. We have a large enclosed playpen in the bedroom for them to strengthen their legs and muscles without danger of getting hurt. (Keep in mind, they are still just learning about gravity at this age). We keep them in the play area for a couple of days while where we can watch them to make sure they won't get hurt once we let loose into the bedroom. We usually put them up at nights with mom at first so we can sleep without worrying about the babies getting hurt while we're sleeping. This is when we start really getting a good picture of their personalities, i.e., who's dominate, who needs more reinforcement and encouragement.... which kittens are the play-mysters, and which are the snugglers. This is a very important time in their growth. We don't want to push them into a scary world before they are ready for it. Plus, we need to be sure they won't be afraid of the other adult cats. Remember, until then, they've been in a very protected room in a m 8' long cage with different levels of carpeted condos and platforms to strengthen their legs and balance. We've learned over our 20+ years of raising Curl kittens to monitor every step in their growth so they don't overestimate their abilities and hurt themselves. Once we bring them into the bedroom with us, we only allow certain cats into the room with them... only the quieter, more gentle cats that mom won't object to being around her babies. The moms are still VERY PROTECTIVE of their family. If we have more than one litter loose in the room, we may have to alternate moms. Some of the moms will share parenting responsibilities. Some won't. This is where we "socialize" them to humans. Eventually, we kick mom out of the room so the babies identify us with their source of attention, play, food, etc. We're creating that special bond to humans that our new Curl owners expect from our kittens.. Some will do this to some extent anyway, but not all. Without this special time with us, and only us, you'll could still end up with those few kittens that are more independent and don't have that special, social Curl personality our kittens are known for. This is not a casual thing for us. We are very focused on which cats need to drawn out of their shells and the attention they need from us to create those special personalities. This last month with us is SO-O SO-O-O critical to being able toguarantee that every kitten we place in a new home becomes that "special loving pet" people are looking or in our Curls. (BTW, I don't know of any other breeders that do this to the extent that we do.... and it shows.)
I create a separate a page for each American Curl kitten at around 2-3 weeks of age. This is where I can add more individual photos, videos and short descriptions of their personalities. You can go directly to the individual pages from the menu bar or from the links on this page. If you are interested in specific kittens and need more information to decide which would be the best fit for your home, please email me at Psalm0512@yahoo.com or call on one of the phone numbers shown below. We can talk and I can take more pictures and/or videos to help you with your decision.

I spend a lot of time telling my new kitten owners what food, litter, etc they should plan on when they have one of our babies. I thought it might just be easier to create a whole page with products and care information. Even if you don't have one of our babies, you might find this information helpful. Click the link below to go to the Basic Kitten Care page.
We believe we provide the best American Curl pets available
based on the compliments we receive from our new family of Curl owners.
We had one new owner call us on her cell phone on her way home from the airport to tell us she couldn't believe that her new American Curl kitten was kissing her daughter's nose and laying on a small towel on her daughter's lap in the car on the way home after a coast to coast flight. Other comments from new owners tell us our babies are sleeping on their pillow next to them.... their first night in their new homes. For personal testimonials from owners of our babies, please enjoy some of the humorous comments and cute photos from the new owners of our kitties on our Testimonial Page.

We believe this is a result of the love and attention they get from us before they find their new homes...
Our kitties love, love, love us... they love their new owners too.
Below is a little slide show of one of the kitties that went to Hong Kong. She's snuggling in with Mike. Who gets to snuggle with the people at night is like taking a number at the DMV. This so perfectly depicts our relationship with our kitties, we decided to leave it up. You HAVE to smile at the last picture.
