Curl Essence was proud to be an importer of some of the first American Curls to Brazil.
On the cover of this issue of the Brazilian cat magazine on the right is Curl Essence Great Is Thy Salvation, "Sassy". Pulo de Gato is the Brazilian equivalent to our Cat Fancy magazine.

Ana Claudia Andrade of Legato Cattery in Parana State, Brazil has a American Curls cat now along with her Scottish Folds and British Short Hairs.
If you can read the cat media articles, we've included them below. We had to scan them and then add as jpegs so the quality of the text may be a little hard to read. We made them full size so you can see the text in case you feel challenged to try to read the articles. |
A 2nd issue of this magazine showed our Curl Essence kitties on the front cover again. The article above shows Grace Ruga holding Shulamith. Grace has very few of these older photos. This is the first time we had seen this photo.
We were actually surprised to see this photo in the magazine. The editor of the magazine had gotten Grace on the phone and gotten information for this article. The information used in this article regarding Grace and the foundation of the breed came straight from Grace directly... not 2nd or 3rd hand as much of the information on articles written about the origination of the breed that you will find in magazines, books or on the internet.
Grace has a lot of really interesting stories to tell about the first days of the American Curl and the challenges she and Joe had developing the breed and getting the breed accepted by CFA and TICA. If we can sit her down long enough to write down some of her stories and include old photos, we'll add some pages later to share the stories with our visitors.
