Cole... |
Cole is a silver tabby boy born on 5/1/22. These pictures were taken on 2/5/23. I called Cole up onto the sofa so I could run a comb through him. He jumped right up and started posing for these pictures like he just knew he was so cute.

iCole has been on our Adoption page for a long time. I haven't really focused on finding a home for him because he's going to need the RIGHT home. Cole needs to go to a home where he can be either an only cat or a home where his new owner will have the time to work with him, Cole gets along great with our entire household of cats... so that's not the issue. He has his "trust issues". Let me explain. Cole doesn't like to be picked up. but he loves to be talked to and petted. Whenever he sees me heading down the hallway from the master bedroom to other bedrooms, he will run in front of me and jump on one of the condos in the hallway for me to stop and pet him. He will roll around to let me know he's really enjoying my attention. Or if we go into a bathroom, he will follow and walk around for a couple of pets... but far enough away so he can't be picked up. When we're in the FR watching TV, he will wander around our feet for attention... but won't jump on the sofa with us... after all, there's too much of a chance we would try to pick him up. I think in a home with a "cat whisperer" or just someone who works out of the house, he could become someone's best friend. I would expect him to be really timid at first. Like I said, he's not very trusting. He really wants to have a human to bond to, but on his terms.
Cole is beautiful, but he's also on the big side for a Curl. And he has lots of coat. I haven't tried to trim his nails, but I'm sure we could if Mike held him and I cut the nails... He would have to be on the kitchen counter so we could get our hands around him.... again, with the trust issues.
He's never been hurt to account for the trust issues. He desperately wants to be loved and to be special. That's clear from all the ways he tries to get a few minutes of my attention when I'm walking around the house. We're calling Cole a "special needs" cat because he needs the right person and the right home to be that special friend but I think he has it in him, and I think he wants that. As I said before, I haven't really worked very hard to find him the right home, but only because he's an easy keeper. He doesn't get in trouble. He's doesn't squabble with the other cats. He gets alone fine with the kittens. In fact, he enjoys having the new playmates.
We will be really picky about who adopts Cole. Read this description a couple of times before you contact me if you think you're the right person for Cole. Then we can talk on the phone.

Cole is a player. If there's a game a foot, he's in. Tucker is the instigator of most of the chases around the house. Cole is usually his first pick to play with. I haven't found Cole to be a snuggler though. Some of the cats are. Cole prefers to lay next to you and just let you pet on him... but you have to remember that there's a lot of competition for attention in our house. Some cats just won't push their way in. He would make a great companion, but if you're looking for a cat that will let you hold him close and snuggle, he might not be your guy. If you want a companion who will be close and respond to your attention, loves to play, likes to have you brush and grooming him, and just likes listening to your voice... then, he might be exactly what you are looking for.
