Winston... Colette and Handy boy....
Winston and Parker. We've named these two little guys Winston and Parker. They are both strong and full of play. Winston is darker than Parker. Parker has more silver undercoat than Winston, whereas Winston is a deep rich red. I've created separate pages for each of these boys so I can add more individual photos for our visitors.
Winston, the darker red boy...
9/26... I wasn't planning on taking videos or photos this morning, but Parker and Winston were just so cute playing in the bathtub, I had to stop and see if I could get them on video for you. We get to watch these two go at it all day long, but when they see us focusing our attention on them, they stop. I'm barely whispering in this video because I don't want to distract them. They are hilarious to watch. Miike was downstairs so I was on my own. I apologize for the angle of this video. I doing everything I could to keep them from paying attention to me. I love the they way them hop on top of each other. They do this all day when they are playing together. It's too funny to watch how one of them will jump in the air and then pounce. I took a couple of quick stills later in the day. while they were just hanging out on this small condo in the middle of the room.
Here are the still photos... Parker and Winston are super affectionate. We put Colette in the room with the boys over a week ago. She was starting the call for a boy so we put her in the boys' room. Once the kittens are weaned, the queens will go into a short heat cycle. When they do that, they are much happier around the boys. Plus, their milk starts to sour and if the kittens continue to nurse, the milk can give them tummy aches. Once we pull mom out of the room, the kittens get super attached to us. These two are playing with Belle's babies, but we haven't had the heart to put Belle in the other room yet. Parker and Winston sleep on the bed at night now. Belle and her babies get put up at nights because they don't know that they need to pack it up at night so the humans can sleep... if they are loose in the room, they think they should play all night. Parker and Winston will play for a while and then jump on the bed and go to sleep. Mike likes having the kittens snuggle next to him at night... once Parker and Winston see Mike starting to knod off, they jump up and snuggle right next to him for the night.
9/19... These 2 boys keep us in laughs when they are loose in the room to romp and play. They are so evenly matched that they take turns pouncing on each other. Winston is a darker red whereas, Parker has more silver undercoat. You can see the difference even in their faces. I took videos of Winston because he was soo cute. I hope you can hear his little growl as he was holding onto the toy. Once he got his paws and mouth on the toy, it was HIS! And he wasn't going to let it go. This is such a fun age. The boys really don't need their mom anymore, but I don't know what it's going to take to separate her from them.... not because of the boys. They are perfectly happy to ignore mom. But Colette goes nuts when we lock her out of the room... She paces around the house calling them and asking to be let back in the room.
9/2...We just decided to fix up the big enclosure in the master bedroom for these boys today after church. It's 12' hi x 8' wide. It has 2 tall condos on each side and a 4' condo between them to make sure the kittens don't fall and hurt themselves. I had to stop working on photos for over an hour because I was mesmerized watching the boys and mom. First, mom had to checkout every level and every cubby to feel like her babies would be ok in this new playground. Then, she would park herself on different levels to watch the boys explore. She would make little whimper noises to call them or just let them know she was still watching them. Every now and again, their excitement would get the best of her and she would paunch on one of them and pull him into her arms, and then let them go to play and explore some more. All I can say is.... "TOOO CUTE!" The only time they are more fun to watch is the first time we let them have the run of the bedroom and bathroom.
We had just brought Parker and Winston out for these pictures. When we first bring the kittens out for pics, it takes them awhile to check out the flowers and stuffed animals before they will play with the little bug. Parker was first to chase the bug while Winston was more interested in the stuffed animals. I have 3 videos of these boys. 2 are below. The other one is on Parker's page.
Photos taken 8/14...
These boys are already soo sooo sweet! They love to be picked up and stroked. They were a week or two too young to be interested in a toy when we took the pictures below. All they wanted to do was walk around and smell this new place. But they didn't whine a bit about the new environment... just curious about all the smells. We've named them Winston and Parker. Winston is the darker of the two. Parker is going to be a light red with lots of silver like mom. Winston is going to be a darker red much like some of the red boys on our Champion Hall.
