Ginger, Spice and Everything Nice ("Nicey)

These 3 babies were born on 8/1.  Mom is Sabrina Fair, a silver patched girl.  Dad is Curl Essence In Light of His Glory, or "Glory".  Glory is a red and white bicolor.

Photos taken 12/5

Below are photos of Ginger.  Ginger is a brown patched tabby.  You can see the red coloring on her face and front left paw.  Ginger loves to play and is very affectionate.  All 3 of these babies  can't resist the blue make-shift toy we made of a long blue ribbon attached to a long wand.

Ginger is available for breed, show or pet.  Enlarge the photo below or above on the right to see the curl in her ears.  We're calling her a mack tabby, but she almost looks spotted.  If you intend to show her, we suggest you let one of the judges decide under their show lights.  Ginger is a real sweetie with a drop-dead gorgeous face.

Spice photos are below

Spice is a deep red and white bicolor little girl.  Spice is more timid than Ginger or Nicey, but we'll work with her over the next couple of weeks to get her over that.  She's a sucker for the toys so convincing her that her human roommates make for nice companions won't be hard.

Spice is available as pet only.  She's very pretty, but in our opinion, the curl in her ears is too tight for show quality.  We have an appointment to have her spayed next week so she will be available anytime after that.  For showing, we prefer the more open curl like that of Nicey.

And now, "Nicey"...

Nicey is a red and white bicolor boy.  He is availabe for pet, show, or breed.  We took lots of photos of his ears to show the curvature for anyone interested in showing or breeding him.
The father for these 3 babies are our of our line that goes back to an outcross.  This is important to potential breeders because there are very few breeders that can trace their pedigrees to a domestic outcross any more.  One of the major contributing factors to the lack of health issues in the American Curl is that the breed originated by breeding to domestic outcrosses (i.e. "street cats") which gave the breed such a diverse gene pool.  Over the years, many Curl breeders have shied away from using a straight eared true domestic outcross because they didn't want to take a chance of getting straight eared kittens in their litters.  That's always a possibility when a breeder brings in a true domestic outcross.  Glory (these kittens' father) is 4 generations from domestic outcross on both sides.  Both Glory and his father ("Lovebug") have curled ears and Glory's grandfather has curled ears.  The curled ear gene is "set" in these kittens, but they still have the advantage of the genetic diversity.
