Future litters ...
We are breeding for summer kittens, but these are the confirmed litters .... in fact, any day now. We have Daphney, and Hope in birthing cages in the nursery. When the girls get a couple weeks from when they are due, they get very "protective" of their environment. Let me explain what I mean.... They literally don't want any other cats near them. They WANT to be separated from the rest of the household and secluded. Their hormones already have them in "mommy-mode". We like to let them have the freedom to run around the house for the exercise until they start getting unbearably nasty with the other cats. Then, they go into a birthing cage with a protective enclosure for their new family. We typically have to drape towels or sheets around the sides to discourage the other cats from trying to visit them until they settle in and decide this new place will be a safe place for them to raise their new family. All of these girls are experienced moms. All are in the same place with the same enclosure they had for their last litters. So now, it's just time for us to all wait. and wait. and wait. We are as anxious at this point as you just before one of your family members has a new baby, We're checking on the moms 4 & 5 times a day just to make sure everyone is settled and peaceful... that they have plenty of food and water, clean boxes and clean bedding.
If you've been following this site, you will notice I moved the photos of previous litters to Daphney's and Hope's litter pages. We have 2 litters planned for summer. One is a girl we named Bandit because of her markings. She's a Daphney child. One is a seal lynx point girl named Maid Marian. (Her brother was named Robin... Robin and Marian... got it?) I decided to leave this page active to post announcements of these expected litters this summer.
