Colette and Opie babies |
Colette had 3 babies last night (3/28). They are 1 color point and 2 dark kitties... we won't know what colors they will be for at least a week. All are doing great. Mom couldn't be happier with her new family. At the bottom of this page are photos of kittens born in 2021 with Colette bred to Opie, our chocolate silver boy. Colette has consistently given us gorgeous babies with outstanding ears.

4/7... These babies are just opening their eyes,,, here's photos of their little faces with eyes just opening up, This is when they really start getting cute!
These are the 2 little girls. We're calling the blue girl a blue cream, but we may need to add her as a blue cream torti because of the color coming out on her face... The red gene ALWAYS shows up later, but for now, she's definitely blue cream. The darker girl below is going to be really unique.... definitely a tortoiseshell. Check out the color on paw pads as wel as on the face,
I took 2 pics of the CP boy, His eyes are just starting to open up, They will be wide open like the girls by tomorrow.

I tried to take a picture of mom with the babies in her little gazebo home, but they all came out so dark that I can't post them.... I'll try later, maybe with the flash, That bedroom gets afternoon sun so morning photos don't have much light, especially inside the little houses be give the moms when the babies are still really tiny.
4/1.The pictures below show a little of how the colors are developing. Right now, it looks like the color point is a boy. The darker one looks like a girl... from the slight hint of red on the face, I won't be surprised if she is a torti. The votes are out on the blue cream baby. We'll check again in another week. The blue cream is going to have a pretty white face. We can already see all the white.
3/29..I tried to take a first photo of Colette's babies this morning. She's so-o-o proud of her new family... our girls just love, LOVE their babies. We try to give them plenty of time between litters so their bodies are completely healed and built their health back up. Queens will go into heat as soon as their babies are weaned (usually around 3 months) so they could technically have as many as 3 litters a year. But it's not good for them. We give our girls a year or so between litters just to keep them strong and healthy. I was up every hour or so last night to check on mom and babies. The babies are kept warm when they are snuggled up next to mom so when they wander away, they can get cold which is why I keep a small heater in that room to keep it warm. These pics are the best I could do this morning.
The last time Colette gave us tortoiseshell kittens was in 2021. Tortis are ALWAYS unique and one of a kind. The mix of reds and browns are always so interesting. Below are a couple of pictures of Colette's last group of tortoiseshell kittens.... oh, and BTW, tortis are always girls. We give our kittens their first FVRCP at 8-9 wks of age with 2nd FVRCP booster 3-4 weeks later. As soon as they have had their 2nd FVRCP, they can go to their new homes. We like our kittens to bond to their new families between 12-14 weeks of age. If you are interested in reserving a kitten from a future litter, please email me at [email protected]
