Curl Essence Obsessed with Chocolate... or "Opie" for short.
We showed Opie mostly in Kitten Class because of his unique color. Opie is probably the smallest boy we have. He is registered as a chocolate smoke. Dreamer is out of Opie which is where Dreamer gets his chocolate genes. We started breeding Opie when he was young to get more of those chocolate genes in our lines. He and Dreamer both have those sweet, loving personalities. He gets so thrilled when I bring him out to groom him that I can barely keep him still long enough to get the brush through him.... What a lover!

3/30... |
I didn't pull these two babies out of their little "house" w mom for these pics. I really just wanted to confirm colors. We initially thought the darker one was a boy, but we were wrong. They are both girls. The CP is going to be a chocolate point with nice dark points.

The darker one looks like a torti. We were noticing several areas that look like we could have some red, first on the center of the back. Then, paw pads on one foot are all pink, and the back of the left leg looks like it's also got red and white on it. We're going to watch for more color in the next 2 weeks. Torti's are really interesting. No 2 are alike. It's almost like Mother Nature put the genes for the black, the white and the red into a shaker... gave them a good shake and tossed them onto the kitten so the colors just landed in this swirl of colors. I'll add some better pictures of the CP girl later. She was moving around a lot when I was snapping pics of the torti girl. Sometimes, we can see colors in the pictures better than when we're handling the kittens, especially at this age.
First photos of Colette's babies...
Colette surprised us with these 2 babies... We had been watching her closely. We expected babies around the 16th. I don't like to put the girls' in their birthing cage until a day or 2 before we expect the babies. We would rather let them get the extra exercise around the house, but Charlotte surprised us. She had crawled into one of the hallway cabinets. Mike heard the little squeaks coming from the cabinet, and lo and behold, there she was with her little color point. A little later, he found the little dark kitten on the floor in the master bedroom behind the bed... I guess these 2 babies took her by surprise too. It's not like Colette not to have found a safe cubbyhole to have her babies in if we don't have her already in a birthing cage in the nursery. I already had a cage cleaned and ready for her so we pulled her out of the cabinet and put her and her 2 babies into her new birthing cage. She's been happy as a clam. Every time we go in to check on her, she's got these 2 little ones snuggled up under her just like in these first pics.
