Cassy -Shelly and Opie Blue Girl

Cassy was born on July 4th.  We thought about giving her a patriotic name, but decided we liked Cassy.  It just seemed to fit.

This is Curl Essence Michelle deCurl... or Shelly.  Shelly had babies on July 4th.  However, only 1 lived past the first 24 hours.  She's a young mom and sometimes, the new moms just don't know what to do to get they babies to nurse, or they are so tired after their delivery that when they go to sleep, they aren't aware of the small lump that has crawled behind them.  Her one little girl baby is gorgeous.  We're vacillating between calling her blue or lilac.

Oie (full name is Curl Essence Obsessed with Chocolate) is a chocolate smoke boy. Opie always passes on his sweet disposition to his babies, as well as really nice ears and eyes.  The other big plus with Opie is his size.  Opie is fairly small boy so his babies are always a nice size.

First photos taken 8/1...

We've been reluctant to post photos of Cassy until she was a little bigger.  We're still vacillating between calling her blue or lilac.  She looks more blue right now, but a couple of her paw pads are rosy in color which is indicative of lilac.  Either way, she's really pretty.
It took us a couple of attempts to get decent photos of this little girl because the color is so unique.  Right now, she's got this light shimmery coat, but the bottom of the hairs next to the skin are dark.  Mom is a lilac color point.  Dad is a chocolate.  That combination leaves a whole world of possibilities for color.  The one thing we can say for sure is that she is an "and white" because of the white on her feet.  We'll get more pics in a couple of weeks when we can see more.  She is just now starting to explore outside her little birthing tent that we set up for mom.  I also stuck a little kitten toy in for her.  She should start exploring how it moves when she bats at it in the next couple of days. The rose colored paw pads in the first pic confirm the chocolate gene...

We forwarded these photos and a few more over to Grace Ruga (founder of the breed) for her opinion on color.  Grace is the real expert on chocolates.  When I hear from her on what she thinks the color is, I'll post her thoughts here.

Reserving a kitten from a future litter...

We are taking reservations for future kittens now.  We reserve the right for first pick of any of our litters for ourselves to show, however, if you reserve a kitten from a future litter, you will have first pick (after us of course).  I keep track of the sequence that I receive Reserved Kitten Agreements and offer kittens in that same sequence.... in other words, the person who has returned the first Reserve Agreement will have first pick of any new litters.  After that, the 2nd person who has returned a Reserve Agreement can select a kitten, and so on.  Anyone with a Reserve Agreement can wait for another litter if they want to wait for a kitten from another litter if they want,  and the same sequence for selecting a specific kitten will still apply.
