Brittany had 3 babies on 3/9... The 2 boys have been sold together. They will be moving to Ariz when they are about 10 wks old. The colorpoint girl is also sold. All 3 were spoken for by people with a Reserve Kitten Sales Agreement which give them first pick of any future or current litters.

Brittany is a bicolor... frequently called a "calico" although that's not an accepted color designation in either CFA or TICA. She is one of our smaller girls and has always, ALWAYS giving us incredible babies in colors and personality. Brittany absolutely ADORES me and she always teaches that same affection for us to her kids. Babies learn a lot from their moms from the day they are born. Babies will model what they see in their moms. Brittany has always taught her babies to welcome our attention from the first times we start to handle them.

"Handy" is a seal lynx point boy. He is a Grand Champion in CFA. We had so much fun showing him. He was absolutely beautiful and he knew it. The judges loved him, but even more than that, people would stop and ooh and ahhh over him whenever we would have his laying on our grooming stand in from of our benching cage. He would just sit there and pose for them as if to say, "Yes, I'm so pretty. Feel free to admire me." Handy has always had a great personality and he always passes that same sweet temperament on to his kids.

4/7.... These babies were getting so active that I decided to put them in the 8' cage in the nursery. I added a carpeted triple circle "condo-type thing" that we asked our condo guy to make for us. for the kittens to crawl around on. The more things we can give them to crawl around on, the more they can strengthen those back legs. Mike picked each one up for a close up of their faces when we were shooting Colette's babies, but then, I decided to take a couple shots of them inside the cage. (BTW, if you see the cardboard that I line this cage with, it's because at their age, they can still crawl through the bars on the cage. We cut pieces of cardboard to line the entire inside of this cage until they are big enough that they can't crawl through the bars on the cage.
Brittany always makes a mess with her food. I've never figured out why, but for some reason, she seems to think she needs to dig around in her food bowl making a mess all over the place. I always try to put a clean puppy pad under her food bowls so I can recoup some of the food she scatters all over the place. I have a drinkwell on this end of the cage for the babies to start to drink water before they start eating dry food.
4/1... We brought Brittany's babies out onto the bathroom counter where we can get enough light to show you their colors. They are still really small, but you can see how the colors are coming in.
The picture above shows the blue boy, You can see the silver stripping on his back leg and white eyeliner.
The photo on the left is the silver boy. I took this so you could see the silver undercoat. We'll have to wait to see how much the silver comes in to see if he will just be silver with black tips or if the black will be more dominate.. |
First photos of these babies were taken when they were about a week old. The eyes weren't open yet. These were the photos I sent to people with Reserve Kitten Sales Agreements. The picture just below them were taken this morning (3/20). They are just starting to open their eyes. This little girl doesn't have a name yet so for now, I'm just calling her "Brittany's Color Point Girl". Color points have a tendency to look solid white for their first few weeks. The red genes always develop slower than the silver or the seal. We're going to be watching her the next couple of weeks to see what color she decides to be.
The silver boy is behind her back leg. The CP girl is on her tummy. The blue boy is under her front paw. I have 2 other pictures I took of her with her babies. You can see the babies a little better in them.

The babies were all sleeping when I went into the room for these photos. Once mem has fed the babies and they fall asleep, she usually leaves them alone in this little bed and posts guard on 1 of the 2 carpeted shelves above this little "house" to give them lots of room. Brittany is a really smart mom. She knows that their little skeletons are still soft and if they get caught either behind her of under her while she's sleeping, they could get hurt.... so she gives them all the room they need to move around and she can nap knowing they are safe and sound. But when I started picking them up one at a time for face shots, she immediately jumped back into the bed to get them back to sleep. I decided only to take photos of the color point girl and the blue boy because mom obviously wanted her kids back in their bed ... I'll take new photos of them in a week or so when they are moving around more on their own.
